A Japanese Komai type box, with hinged cover and stay chain, the exterior finely decorated in gilt with reserves of buildings, dragons, and exotic birds, within floral borders, all against a black niello type ground, decorated internally with an engraved bird and butterfly amongst flowers against a gilt ground, signed with Mount Fuji mark to the black base, raised on four small bracket feet, 300.9g, 9 by 6.5 by 3.5cm high.
