Jean Shepeard (British 1904-1989): a charcoal portrait portrait of the actress Dame Peggy Ashcroft (1907-1991), signed with a monogram, Shepeard shared a flat with Ashcroft in the 1920s, with label referencing 'Rachel Kempson/Redgrave', who might have aided with identification of the sitter, as well as facsimile copies of press cuttings verso, 27.5 by 20.5cm, mounted, glazed and framed, 50.5 by 40.5cm.
Provenance- from Doreen Kern Collection (Artist and Sculptor 1931-2021) niece of Jean Shepeard.
