A George III and Victorian silver desk stand of oval twin handled form, with swag decoration within a pierced and beaded rim, raised on four foliate scroll feet, fitted with a central taperstick and holder flanked by two cut glass inkwells with silver lids, presentation engraved to body 'Richard Budd Painter Esquire, MD, FRCS (exam) M & LSA, also Surgeon to the F Division of the Metropolitan Police for seven years by the Officers, Sergeants and Constables of that Division, in appreciation of his excellent qualities, professional and private, and as a small token of their very great esteem for him. Thomas Durkin, Superintendent, Bow St., February 1864', stand London 1777, Robert Jones & John Scofield, the well lids, central cylinder beneath the tapersick and the taperstick itself various makers and dates, 31 by 18.5 by 11cm, 19.42toz excluding glass wells.
