A good Japanese Satsuma pottery miniature vase, by Ryokuzan, Meiji period, of ovoid form with flared gilt rim, finely painted in enamels and gilt with four panels, to the front and back with groups of figures, to the sides with pointillist gilt ground populated with butterflies and flowers, the neck and shoulder with intricately painted patterned panels, further 'jewelled' and narrow scroll borders, against a densely scrolled and patterned ground, two character gilt signature to base, 7.6 by 11.6cm high.
