Eleanor Vere Boyle (Scottish, 1825-1916): a Scottish Highlands scene, with man fishing beside a waterfall stream, and mountainous scenery behind, oil on board, signed with monogram E. V. B. 1869 lower right, 15 by 23cm, in gilt wood composition frame, 31 by 39cm. A most important Victorian illustrator, Boyle was married to Queen Victoria's chaplain, and used her initials to mask her identity as an artist.
