A fine Japanese Satsuma pottery kogo incense box and cover by Kinkozan, Meiji period, of rectangular section with gently domed cover, finely painted in enamels and gilt, the cover depicting a lady seated with five children beside an open shoji, with views to buildings, pine trees and mountains in the distance, to the sides with a variety of panels and flowers, opening to reveal two sprays of flowers, gilt painted on iron seal four character 'Kinkozan' seal mark to base, in a gilt line border, a/f lid broken and repaired, 6.85 by 4.75 by 2.30cm high.
