A Japanese Satsuma vase, circa 1930, of shouldered ovoid form, decorated with a peacock standing on a rocky outcrop with stream and waterfall below, a profusion of flowers and foliage forming the surroundings, a pink blossoming cherry tree above, decorated to the opposite side with two purple breasted birds in blossoming cherry branches above ripples of blue water, the neck and foot rims with gilt, black and brown borders, subtle crackleure all over the glaze, printed three character mark to base, with Shimazu family crest, and 'Shi Yama', probably from Kobe, Kyoto, Yokohama area, 16 by 32.5cm high.
