Nicholas Dimbleby (British, b. 1946): 'Duke Ellington, 1899-1974, 3/100', a bronze sculpture modelled as a bust of Duke Ellington, on a column with stepped base and square foot, signed, titled and numbered to back, 10.5 by 9 by 23cm high.
Provenance: From the deceased Estate of Peter Boizot MBE (1929-2018), the founder of Pizza Express and previous owner of Peterborough Football Club, The Great Northern Hotel and The Broadway Theatre, who was born and died in Peterborough. He was well known as an engaging and cordial host, a great philanthropist and as a lover of jazz, hockey and of course pizza.
Notes: the sculptor is the son of Frederick Richard Dimbleby, CBE, an English journalist and broadcaster, two of his siblings are English television presenters David and Jonathan Dimbleby.
